Art Deco Amber Pressed Glass Octagonal Tidbit Tray, circa 1930s

US$250.00

A refined Art Deco–era amber pressed-glass tidbit tray executed in a saturated topaz tone, distinguished by its disciplined octagonal geometry and sharply articulated starburst-and-sweep line motif. Compact yet visually assertive, this is a quintessential Depression-period serving form elevated by clarity, symmetry, and chromatic warmth.

The silhouette is architectural and balanced: an elevated circular serving plate framed within an octagonal perimeter, rising on a proportioned pedestal base. The surface decoration—radiating starburst cuts intersected by sweeping linear accents—captures the optimism and machine-age precision associated with 1930s design vocabulary. Under light, the amber batch glass glows richly, pooling toward honey-gold at the thickened transitions.

Pressed manufacture is consistent with Depression-era production, and the visible mold seam present in close inspection is a period-correct characteristic of multi-part mold construction—not damage. Such seams are commonly found at transitional points and confirm authentic early pressed-glass fabrication rather than later reproduction.

Attribution & Period

Circa 1930s–1940s.
Likely North American production (United States or Canada).
Unattributed; many comparable Depression-era serving pieces were produced unmarked.

Dimensions

  • Height: 3 1/2 in (8.9 cm)

  • Diameter: 6 1/2 in (16.5 cm)

A highly versatile cabinet-scale serving form.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition.

  • No chips

  • No cracks

  • No visible surface scratching

  • Pattern remains crisp and well-defined

Glass clarity and structural integrity remain strong.

Design & Construction Notes

Pressed amber batch glass with defined mold articulation. Octagonal perimeter and starburst motif are sharply retained. Visible mold seam consistent with original manufacture and not indicative of damage.

Placement

Ideal for:

  • Art Deco bar cart styling

  • Depression glass collections

  • Hostess and canapé presentation

  • Vanity or jewelry display

  • Layered amber tonal installations

Its compact scale and luminous amber hue allow it to function equally as serving piece or decorative accent.

STANDARD ATTRIBUTION & VALUE DISCLOSURE

This piece is described to the best of current scholarly and market knowledge. Any maker or regional attribution is based on visual analysis, materials, construction techniques, and documented stylistic comparisons. As with many vintage and antique glass objects, definitive attribution may not be possible without original labels or factory records. Pricing reflects condition, quality, decorative appeal, and current collector demand rather than a guaranteed maker identification.
