Cobalt Blue Pressed Glass Grape Bowl, 1960s
Cobalt-blue pressed-glass fruit / dessert bowl, attributed to Indiana Glass (Colony Brand), circa 1960s-1970s.
The bowl features an allover grape-and-leaf motif with a dotted/beaded band and a substantial, heavy feel typical of mid-century American pressed glass.
Authenticity & Construction
Under magnification you can see characteristic production features; subtle flow lines and ”hot glass” pooling consistent with molded, pressed manufacture. Unmarked, as many Colony/Indiana pressed pieces are.
Dimensions & Weight
2.75” Height
6” diameter (mouth)
3.5” diameter (base)
Weight: 0.91 lb
Condition:
Excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or scratches noted.
Attribution & Period
Based on the pattern language (grapes/leaves + beaded band), form, and the common unmarked production, this example is best attributed to Indiana Glass made for the Colony Brand (Lancaster Colony era) and placed most plausibly in the 1960s-1970s.
Placement
Mid-Century Modern, Traditional, Americana, Cottage.
STANDARD ATTRIBUTION & VALUE DISCLOSURE; This piece is offered in good faith based on visual examination, handling, and available comparative research. Any maker, pattern, material, or date attribution is an informed opinion and should be understood as such; unmarked glassware can be difficult to attribute with absolute certainty. Pricing reflects market comparable, condition, and rarity at the time of listing and does not constitute a formal appraisal.
