Glass Amber Swirl Dinner Plate 9.5"” c.1960s

US$200.00

A striking amber depression-era;–revival glass plate with a dramatic spiral/swirl fluted rim and rich, glowing color that reads beautifully under light. This piece is marked “INDONESIA”” (see close-up photo), indicating export production rather than U.S.-made Indiana Glass; ideal for collectors who focus on mid-century decorative glass and global pressed-glass manufacturing.

Attribution & Period

Country of origin: Indonesia (molded mark: “INDONESIA””). Estimated time period: Late 20th century, 1970s-1980s (export-era pressed glass in classic amber swirl styling).

Dimensions & Weight

Size: 9 ½ Inch” diameter.

Authenticity & Construction

Pressed glass with molded swirl pattern and scalloped rim; luminous amber tone.

Collector background / context:

Amber swirl glass has long been collected for its optical depth and light-play, echoing earlier American pressed-glass aesthetics while reflecting the postwar/global export boom when decorative glass production expanded across Asia for Western markets. Pieces like this were commonly sold through giftware and home décor channels, and the enduring swirl form keeps demand strong among collectors styling Hollywood Regency, MCM, and vintage bar/cart displays.

Condition

Exterior rims are in excellent condition on both plates -light centre surface wear from utensil marks, ZERO flea bites , slight scratches on the base as expected from time and use

STANDARD ATTRIBUTION & VALUE DISCLOSURE

This piece is described to the best of current scholarly and market knowledge. Any maker or regional attribution is based on visual analysis, materials, construction techniques, and documented stylistic comparisons. As with many vintage and antique glass objects, definitive attribution may not be possible without original labels or factory records. Pricing reflects condition, quality, decorative appeal, and current collector demand rather than a guaranteed maker identification.
