Service for 4, Continental Gilt Amber Art Glass Decanter and Cordials with Ruby Jewel Prunts, Bohemian Style, Mid-Century

US$1,450.00

Service for 4, Gilt Amber Art Glass Decanter and Cordial Glasses with Applied Ruby Jewels

A richly ornamented mid-20th-century Continental art glass service comprising one decanter and three matching cordial glasses, executed in the grand decorative tradition associated with Central European luxury export production.

The ensemble features luminous amber-to-cognac glass bodies overlaid with mirror gilding and acid-etched foliate ornament, accented by applied ruby-red jewel prunts. Each piece is elevated on a clear, twisted stem terminating in a fire-polished foot with gilt detailing. The result is theatrical, formal, and unmistakably baroque in presence.

The decanter’s elongated neck and flared lip create an elegant silhouette designed for ceremonial pouring and display. The cordials echo the same proportions and surface treatment, forming a cohesive aperitif or digestif service with strong cabinet presence.

Attribution & Period

Continental Europe (most consistent with Bohemian / Czech production)
Circa 1950s–1960s

Unmarked, but construction, jewel application, and etched mirror gilding align with documented Central European mid-century export glass rather than pressed or later reproduction work.

Dimensions & Weight

Decanter
Height: 12 7/16 in
Mouth diameter: 1 3/4 in
Base diameter: 3 3/4 in

Cordial Glasses (each)
Height: 5 in
Mouth diameter: 1 1/2 in
Base diameter: 1 3/4 in

Total set weight: 1.742 lbs

Condition

• Overall very good vintage condition
• Light, honest wear to gilt at rims and high points
• No chips, cracks, or structural damage observed
• Glass remains bright, clear, and well-balanced

Gilding wear is age-appropriate and does not detract from visual impact.

Authenticity & Construction

Hand-blown amber glass bodies
Layered coloration with mirror gilding
Acid-etched foliate decoration
Applied ruby glass cabochon jewels
Hand-assembled twisted clear stems
Fire-polished bases with gilt edging

Not pressed glass. Not modern reproduction. Surface ornament and stem construction indicate skilled hand production typical of mid-century Central European ateliers.

Placement

Ideal for:

• Elevated bar styling
• Hollywood Regency or maximalist interiors
• Jewel-toned dining vignettes
• Curated mid-century glass collections
• Dramatic cabinet display

Complete matching decanter-and-cordial sets in cohesive condition are increasingly difficult to source, particularly with intact jewel applications.

STANDARD ATTRIBUTION & VALUE DISCLOSURE

This piece is described to the best of current scholarly and market knowledge. Any maker or regional attribution is based on visual analysis, materials, construction techniques, and documented stylistic comparisons. As with many vintage and antique glass objects, definitive attribution may not be possible without original labels or factory records. Pricing reflects condition, quality, decorative appeal, and current collector demand rather than a guaranteed maker identification.
