La Fondue Divided Plates, –Service for 3

US$125.00

Set of three French Grand Sud Céramiques “La Fondue” divided earthenware plates, produced during the height of the European fondue revival, circa 1960s–1980s. Each plate features the classic molded relief design with raised “LA FONDUE” lettering, crossed fondue forks, cow motif, and bottle, framed by a rope-twist border in a rich caramel glaze. Stamped to the underside Grand Sud Céramiques – France, these plates represent authentic mid-century French provincial tableware created specifically for communal fondue service. During the 1970s fondue entertaining movement, French makers such as Grand Sud produced durable, high-gloss earthenware in warm alpine tones designed to complement rustic wood tables and convivial dining settings. The divided form was practical for breads, meats, and accompaniments, while the relief decoration reinforced the thematic presentation. The glaze presents in a classic honey-caramel tone with depth and sheen characteristic of French export-era production. These are decorative yet fully functional serving plates and display beautifully when stacked or wall-mounted.

Authenticity & Construction

Grand Sud Céramiques was a French ceramics producer active primarily in the late 20th century, most strongly associated with the 1960s–1980s era of French provincial and fondue-service tableware. The firm produced rustic, high-gloss earthenware in warm caramel, ochre, and honey glazes that aligned with the mid-century European fondue and alpine dining trend. The “Grand Sud” name reflects a Southern French aesthetic influence — earthy tones, tactile relief decoration, and casual table presentation — rather than fine faience or luxury porcelain production. These pieces were export-friendly decorative table ceramics, widely sold in France and abroad during the fondue revival period of the 1970s.Durable stoneware construction •
